John Fusselman

My story is one of trial and error, mostly error.  I was raised in a loving middle class family in North Dallas.  Growing up from ages 5-17 I attended an affluent Baptist church.  Unfortunately, our family was not affluent. My mother and I felt like we just didn’t belong, but that did not stop me from trying.  I also tried in High School. I never achieved the level of popularity that I craved. I should have payed attention to God instead. I should have admired my peers who followed Jesus.  In my twenties and thirties I continued to seek worldly items. It took me two decades to figure out what was important in life. I finally found God when I was 37.  Thank you Lord! Better late than never. For three years God worked on ridding me of my very obvious faults. He is still working on me to this very day to cleanse my deeper hidden faults. We are told in Philippians 1:6 that “God began a good work in us and I am sure he will continue it when Jesus Christ comes again.”

I will not lose heart, but I will have faith that I am loved and an important part of his plan!  I will continue to grow closer to God with my amazing wife Diana and our adorable son Halsey. We pray everyday that we will be better parents and husbands and wives and people.

I am from Colombia and have been living in United States for five years. I am a Journalist with more than 10 years experience in mass media, digital communication and science communication. Three years ago I got married on the Sea of Galilee during a life changing trip to the Holy Land. My wonderful husband, John, is a blessing due to his love for God.  We now share our life with our son Halsey. My story with John has been the inspiration to create this space. I was in the pursuit of something to apply my career and to serve God and be a testimony of the blessings that He has sent for us.  I have discovered that God is the solution to our problems and that waiting and patience with Faith always brings the answers that we expect.

Our Family

Our family has long carried a deep desire to serve. Years ago, when we first began our ministry, we started praying and searching for ways to respond to that calling. In many ways, that desire quietly grew in our hearts over time. Our recent mission trip to Guatemala became a turning point for us—it allowed us to witness God’s love moving powerfully among communities in need and reminded us why we felt called to serve in the first place.

Now, as we prepare to depart on a missionary journey beginning in South America, we sense that the dream God planted in us years ago is beginning to take shape. Little by little, doors are opening, and we are choosing to step through them with faith. This journal is a way for our family to document that journey—sharing the people we meet, the lessons we learn, and the many ways we see God guiding us along the path.
